Slim Harpo (born James Isaac Moore; January 11, 1924 – January 31, 1970) [1] [a] was an American blues musician, a leading exponent of the swamp blues style, and "one of the most commercially successful blues artists of his day". [2] He played guitar and was a master of the blues harmonica, known in blues circles as a "harp".

Just a shade behind Lightnin' Slim in local popularity, Harpo played both guitar and neck-rack harmonica in a more down-home approximation of Jimmy Reed, with a few discernible, and distinctive, differences. Harpo's music was certainly more laid-back than Reed 's, if such a notion was possible.
