When you think of a regular GM alternator with a built-in regulator, most people call it a 3-wire alternator, but really there's only two wires.

i am new to this forum and i had a question that maybe someone could answer for me, i am in the market for a wiring kit for a project truck ...

9.6.2004 · I prefer Ron Francis. Painless is about $649 for 12 circuit wiring. Some of ya' have installed one or the other, so any pros/cons comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Save Reply

Feb 17, 2009 · As a Painless user I can speak to its ease of use/install. All wires are labeled for their respective application although Ron Francis kit does the same thing. Being much like yourself in the wiring department, I was only intimidated with the Painless kit when I opened the box. After that, things just went together.

Is it worth the extra money? Is the F5 Ran Francis set up pretty easy compared to installin g the painless?

18.7.2015 · I called Ron Francis and also spoke with Centech. I need one that supports EFI, A/C, cooling fan, and possibly P/W and P/L. The kit that Ron Francis has is interesting in that it has the plugs already in place and you run the wires back to the block. No extra length of wires to deal. Just cut them to length. Plus it has new Ford plugs.

Aug 17, 2012 · I used the Ron Francis Mopar Retro Wiring Kit for my 71 Charger. Price was the factor when comparing against painless. The extra stuff I had to buy was the Ron Francis voltage regulator and I probably didn't need it, but it was plug and play with his harness and only $25 bucks.

I dislike the Painless because the wires are pre-terminated at the fuse block, the Ron Francis gives you the option of stringing the wires ...
