Nov 16, 2022 · In order to earn the FIA Super Licence required to compete in F1, drivers need to meet a range of fundamental criteria. Firstly, they must be the holder of a current FIA International Grade A licence, be the holder of a valid driving licence and be at least 18 years old at the start of their first F1 competition.

An FIA super licence is necessary for a prospective F1 driver if they want to join the premier class of single-seater racing.

To qualify for an FIA Racing Super Licence an applicant must meet the requirements of the FIA's International Sporting Code, Appendix L, Article 5. As of 2021, the article states: A minimum age of 18 at the start of their first F1 competition. An existing holder of an International Grade A competition licence. A holder of a valid driving licence.

Jun 15, 2019 · Now from 2020, the FIA's World Motor Sport Council has ratified that a driver with a free practice only super licence who completes at least 100km during a free practice session will earn an additional point per Grand Prix weekend, providing they do not pick up any licence penalty points.
