With EA Play (formerly known as EA Access) you can play all of the titles that EA has added to their vault. From what I've seen with sports titles is that they enter the vault some time after that season is over. So basically you're playing a year behind. If you're okay with that then go for.

It really depends on how much you will use it. You like sports games, and EA really specializes with those. Also, sports games tend to age quickly. One year old is fine, but few people play games that are 3-4, so owning the game outright is less important.
